Next Regatta will be held over the weekend of 3rd & 4th Feb 2018
This annual regatta honours the life and work of a man altruistically dedicated to improving the opportunities of youth. The late Stan Vitnell would have described himself as an ‘ordinary’ Australian, but all who knew him recognized his ‘extraordinary’ ability to influence his community to, as he used to say, “keep the kids off the streets”. He organized, and was President of the Budgewoi/Doyalson Youth Club, and in 1972 in collaboration with Ashley Chapman, co-founded the Budgewoi Sailing Club which was an immediate success.

Stan was Vice-President of the Club and one of the first qualified instructors and later a Sailing Master in the Club’s official AYF school. As a Corsair Class Official, he was often an advisor to Australian Navy Cadets.
Always friendly and helpful, Stan gave tirelessly of himself to others without thought of return and often at personal cost. His influence and example live on in those he taught and with whom he worked. Budgewoi Sailing Club hosts this annual event over the first weekend in Febuary each year. Two races are scheduled for Saturday afternoon – depending on the wind - and three races on Sunday. All "off the beach class" sailors are invited to this important and enjoyable event.
